XP Service Pack 3 Endless Reboot Patch

I was on its way to your system a month ago and advised you to wait a bit before delving into this major upgrade to your operating system. Now, aren't you glad you listened to me? ...

I disagree with waitin on SP3, at least on Intel based computers. I have already installed countless XP SP3 copies and unlike SP2 which was a major upgrade with new features added that could break software, this is just a culmination of over a hundred patches that were mostly already available with barely anything "new" that cant be found without the service pack.

Check out the white paper for more details:

So it's ok to install SP3, at least on Intel based computers? How do I tell if I have an Intel based computer? What if I don't have an Intel based computer, should I still go ahead with installing it?

Good question Gandolf. Since beanstalk66 gives the thumbs up on SP3 to Intel systems.

You will have either an Intel or AMD system and to tell click on Start and "right click" on My Computer and scroll to Properties. The general tab will tell you what your system is.

Whether you should install it, well you may not run into any issues.

(ComputerWorld just posted this article - "XP SP3 update corrupts Windows registry, users claim.
They blame Symantec's Norton security software, but Symantec denies connection")

I have been a computer technician for over 19 years... And I have always recommended waiting to install any new operating system updates. So NO...Mr Beanstalk66...I disagree with your logic.

there is a reason why early adopters pay the largest price in both $ and sense. that is so that those who wait can learn from beanstalk66's pain. im sure that those ppl that were in line at best buy at 12am to pick up their copy of vista the day it went on sale were real happy, with vista and best buy.
