Microsoft warned us back in March 2007 of a hack that could route users through a malicious proxy server. When a browser looks for a server's DNS or WINS, an infected server may "route their Internet traffic through a malicious proxy server," according to Microsoft.
Well the word is out and yes, the hack has begun. As I recently posted, there is this "notification" that appears on your system and allegedly tells you that your computer is infected and you need to install some B.S. Anti-SpywareXP crap to remove it. WRONG!
Now I read that even if you type in a correct address in your browser, you might get re-directed to a malicious site.
Security experts fear an open season for virus attacks and identity-fraud scams. And I'm wondering how ugly this will get as well.
